Girl student's mouth plastered by school principal HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a 14-year-old girl was hospitalised after her school principal plastered her mouth with cellophane tape and made her stand outside the classroom for more than five hours for not being attentive in the class.
According to police, Fathima (14) is studying in ninth class in Shams British Private School in Noor Khan locality near Dabeerpura. On Wednesday, the school principal, Afroz Mazar was teaching in the class and found Fathima talking with the other students without paying attention to her lessons.
'Angered over this, Mazar put an adhesive tape on Fathima's mouth and made her stand outside the class room for more than five hours,' said Dabeerpura Inspector Y Rajasekhar.
Fathima's father Mustaffa found her daughter depressed when she came form school. 'Fathima told the incident to her parents and collapsed on the ground. She was shifted to a hospital. The principal did not respond when Mustafa approached her,' police said.
Mustaffa lodged a complaint against the school principal with Dabeerpura police stating that her daughter was hospitalised due to corporal punishment.
Based on the complaint, Dabeerpura police registered cases under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 241( punishment for wrongful restraint) of IPC. The investigation is on.
