GHMC extends LRS date to Sept 30 Hyderabad, July 3 (INN): The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on Tuesday extended the last date for the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) to September 30.
As per the schedule, the last date for receiving LRS applications was closed on June 30. However, the GHMC and HMDA extended the last date to attracted plot owners as the scheme received poor response.
According to reports, both GHMC and HMDA put together received about 23,000 applications for regularisation of plots in unapproved layouts till June 30. While the GHMC received about 15,000 applications, HMDA got about 8,000 applications.
According to relevant sources, the poor response was due to the 20 percent surcharge imposed on the penal amount. As per a government order (GO), 20 pc surcharge was collected from both new and old applications from faulty owners.
Though the GHMC officials processed about 18,000 old applications the plot owners were not coming forward to pay the balance amount and take proceedings.
Similarly, another 10,000 old applications were pending with the HMDA, where the owners have to make the balance penal amount.
