Three new fish markets to come up in the city HYDERABAD: Three new fish markets are set to come up in the city, as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has approved the construction of fish markets at Kukatpally, Nacharam and Begumbazar, in its 3rd Ordinary Meeting (2012) of the Standing Committee, GHMC on Wednesday.
Speaking at the meeting Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain informed that, 90 per cent of the cost out of the Rs 2.5 cr project would be borne by the National Fisheries Development Board.
The standing committee approved the estimated cost of Rs 278.2 lakh, Rs 249 lakh and Rs 525 lakhs for the Kukatpally, Nacharam and Begumbazar fish markets respectively, as proposed by the National Fisheries Development Board.
The Mayor also instructed engineer-in-chief to submit status report on road widening proposed on Omer Hotel, Hafeez Babanagar and Owaisi Hospital in the old city.
Also, the standing committee has approved formation of a parallel road at Purani Haveli, acquisition of the required land along with the open land belonging to Mokarramjah Trush Education and Learning.
A sum of Rs 78 lakhs has been sanctioned for the same to be deposited as per the judgement of AP High court.
A five member committee has also been directed to inspect the industrial areas, where sewage water is merged in to storm water drains.
The committee is directed to submit the report with photographs by July 9, with the chief engineer, and the report to be submitted after one week of inspection.
A sum of Rs 42.7 lakhs was also approved the estimated cost for strengthening the damaged storm water drain at Moosrambagh, Div 18, GHMC.
