Mayor threatens action against erring staff Hyderabad, August 22 (INN): GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain on Wednesday admitted that his instructions were not being taken seriously by the officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Talking to reporters at the GHMC Headquarters, Majid Hussain blamed the GHMC officials and staff for the bad condition of roads in the corporation's limits.
He said despite clear and repeated instructions, the works were not executed properly. He warned that he would take serious action against the erring officials and staff from Thursday onwards while conducting surprise visits across the GHMC limits.
The GHMC Mayor also threatened to blacklist the contractors who did not carryout the proper desiltation of nalas in the city. He said inefficient contractors would be identified and no works would be allotted to them in future.
Meanwhile, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu also pulled up the officials of corporation's engineering Wing.
During a review meeting, the commissioner expressed displeasure over the bad condition of roads in the city which has been leading to traffic congestions.
He even threatened to dissolve the entire Engineering Wing and scrap the Engineer-in-Chief's post.
