Rs 20 lakh jewellery recovered from ex-maid servant Hyderabad, September 8 (INN): The Bowenpally police on Saturday arrested a maid servant and her associate recovered stolen jewellery worth nearly Rs 20 lakh from her possession.
According to police, on June 16 this year, a complaint was received from S Raghava Reddy, a resident of Kamsary Bazar, New Bowenpally about theft of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs from his house.
Bowenpally Police made sincere efforts by keeping watch over the movements of suspects and found that an ex-maid servant Koppula Laxmi alias Varalaxmi, who worked in the house of complainant for long time has committed the offence.
On interrogation she confessed that she committed the offence and gave major share of stolen property to her associate Gunda Tataji alias Balaji and concealed a minor share of stolen property in her house, police said.
She allegedly committed theft of above property with an intention to lead lavish life with her associate Gunda Tataji by visiting various places in Andhra Pradesh. At their instance, the stolen jewellery of about 507 grams worth nearly Rs 20 lakh was recovered.
The arrested accused persons are being produced before the Honourable XI ACMM Court, Secunderabad for judicial custody. The case is being investigated by Additional Inspector of Police K Srinivasulu.
