GHMC Commissioner inspects CoP works


 
Hyderabad, September 10 (INN): Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner MT Krishna Babu on Monday directed the Zonal Commissioner of Central Zone to remove dangling cable wires and encroachments on footpath stretch from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Mehidpatnam to Masab Tank Road.

The Commissioner issued instructions while inspecting the arrangements for COP-11 to be held in the city during October.

He expressed satisfaction over the works taken up for widening of footpaths and pointed out that footpaths are being encroached by the tiffin vendors and telephone booths and also observed the cable wires which were removed are lying on the footpaths and the some trees are found to be obstructing while walking on the footpaths.

Therefore, he directed the Zonal Commissioner to take up a special drive to remove cables, encroachments as well as trimming of tree branches.

Krishna Babu also directed concerned Executive Engineer to shift electrical poles from the footpaths duly coordinating with the APCPDCL authorities and the transformer near NMDC footpath which is obstructing the pedestrians to walk freely and wanted officials concerned that the same may be taken up with single column construction for the convenience of the pedestrians.

The Commissioner observed that the cross girders of the Foot over Bridge (FoB) basement at NMDC is obstructing in the free movement of pedestrians for which he has directed the concerned Executive Engineer to get it corrected immediately for smooth movement of pedestrians.

The Commissioner directed the Chief Engineer to concentrate on footpath works near bus stops in the twin cities for the convenience of the passengers.

Later, the Commissioner visited Road No 1, Banjara Hills and inspected the ongoing works of footpaths and expressed his dissatisfaction for delaying the work and directed the concerned Executive Engineer to see that the contractor to whom the work was allotted to complete within 3 days failing which the contract should be cancelled as well as listing the said contractor under black list.

He also inspected various works pertaining to COP-11 event and directed the Additional Commissioner (Parks) the plantation of the saplings, trees etc., at the central dividers be completed within next five days.

Chief Engineer K Suresh, Zonal Commissioner (Central Zone) Siva Parvathi and other senior officials of the GHMC were also present.
