Telangana NRIs march in USA in support of Telangana March



More than hundred Telangana NRIs gathered in 4 major cities of USA to express their profound solidarity to the Telangana March to be held on September 30th in Hyderabad. Solidarity rallies were held based on a program taken up by TeNA (Telangana NRI association, USA) in Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia and New Brunswick New Jersey on 22 September.

These solidarity rallies turned out to be grand success, participated by hundreds of NRIs in their respective towns who raised their voices in unison and echoed their unwavering support for the Telangana March 'Chalo Hyderabad'. They demanded the Govt Of India to stand by the statement of the home minister on 9 December 2009 that the process to form the Telangana state would be initiated.

In New Jersey, the support rally was organized by TeNA and New Jersey Telangana association. Responding to the call given by TeNA and NJTA, Telangana NRI's began to gather in Buccleuch Park in the city of New Brunswick.

There were flags, with Telangana state map printed on them fluttering, placards with demands for Telangana state and in support of the September 30th march written on them and a huge banner with glaring letters in support of Telangana March. All the NRIs were in upbeat mood with lot of enthusiasm and commitment for the cause of Telangana. There were Telangana women and children and senior citizens in the gathering.

The gathering slowly turned into a wave with Telanganites trickling in and the crowd grew to a decent size with more than fifty NRIs. The TNRIs quickly fell into an organized procession and started marching.

The banner was held in the front by Vidya Venkatayogi and Srinivas Kompally who led the procession raising slogans in support of the Telangana march.

They were followed by Narayanaswamy Venkatayogi, Ravi Dhannapuneni, Narasimha Mekala, Pradeep Suvarna, Mahesh Pogaku,Sirisha Pogaku, Sravan Nagapuri, Venkatesham Nalla, Ramaesh Maganti, Rathnakar RK, Rajani Kanth, Kishore Bupathi, Venkatarajam Chiluka, Ravi Puskur, Jamuna Puskur, Srinivas Ganagoni, Balaram, Prashant Tavutam, Srinivas Koduri, Prof.Nageshwara Rao, Prof.Lakshmi Rajam Tushira Venkatayogi, Preethy Nagapuri, Saranya Pogaku and many others carrying placards and raising their hands with clenched fists.

The procession went on in which every TNRI participated with vigor and showed their active support for people of Telangana fighting for the statehood for Telangana. Several slogans were raised in support of the just democratic movement of people of Telangana.

After the procession the TNRIs gathered in a circle and raised enthusiastic slogans supporting the Telangana march. They paid homage to Konda Laxman Bapuji, a great leader of Telangana and freedom fighter, who passed away at the age of 97.

Bapuji fought actively until his last breath for statehood for Telangana and was an integral part of the Telangana peoples' movement. The TNRIs felt sad that he passed away without having realized his dream of state of Telangana.

Everyone said in one voice 'Johar Konda Laxman Bapuji'! TeNA and NJTA representatives expressed their opinions and sent message to the people of Telangana to make the Telangana March a huge success and continue the struggle until statehood for Telangana is achieved.

They demanded the Govt of AP not to take repressive actions against the Telangana march and let the march continue peacefully. They also demanded the Govt of India to pass the bill for statehood for Telangana in parliament immediately. They expressed solidarity to the democratic movement of Telangana people for a justified cause.

In Boston, Venkat Maroju (TeNA board member), Amar Karmilla (TeNA board member), Jalagam Muraleedhar Rao from Mancherial and K Naganna from Gadwal who are visiting USA, Paparao Gundavaram, Venkat Reddy Muddasani, Swarun Budhineni, Srinivas Meneni, Vija Kaki, Ramarao Budhineni, Shanti Putta, Balvinder Singh, K Kalyan, Sudheer Boinapally, Raju, Amar Karmilla and others actively participated in the rally.

In Detroit, DTC (Detroit Telangana Community) in coordination with TeNA has organized a solidarity meeting in support of the 'Telangana March' scheduled to be held on Sep 30th. NRIs have assembled at Mirchi Restaurant Banquet Hall in Novi on Sept 23 (Sunday). Bharath Madadi , Shailendra Sanam and Hari Maroju spoke at the occasion expressing their solidarity to the Telangana March.

In Philadelphia Philadelphia Telangana Association organized the rally and Ravi Mayreddy, Madhav Mosarla, Sridhar Gudala and many other TNRIs participated in the rally actively. The TNRI solidarity marches coordinated and organized by TeNA were a grand success and sent a strong unified message to the people of Telangana.
