Telugu association of Greater Boston celebrates Deepawali




The Telugu association of Greater Boston (TAGB) celebrated the Deepawali 'The Festival Of Lights' on November 10, 2012 at the Marlborough Middle School Auditorium in a very grand comportment.

The venue was full of energy and spirit of unity of more than 750 Telugu Families that have graced the occasion and made the event a huge success. The guests were warmly welcomed by the committee members at the reception desk.

As an Inaugural rung of the evening, Dr. Dasari Ammani lighted the inaugural lamp accompanied by President Srinivas Kollipara, and Cultural Secretary Niranjan Avadutha, followed by song on Lord Ganesha.

More than 130 local talents of all ages participated and performed on the juncture of the colorful evening. The variety of programs included dances, skits, songs and dramas in both Classical and Filmy categories.

'Kuchupudi Natyalaya' presented a spectacular 45 minutes Kuchipudi Dance Ballet under the guidance and direction of Smt. Sailaja Tummala who portrayed the role of Satyabhama along with 30 other astounding talented artists. The group portrayed the importance of Deepawali, including Narakasura Samharam and Lakshmi Kataksham.

The show got an incredible response and the spectators were overwhelmed and gave a standing ovation with great respect towards the entire heart and soul effort the team put together. Charun's songs performance on whistle was another significant program of the evening.

Throughout the evening there were number of electrifying dance performances by kids of all ages. Gangnam style dance performance by Grafton couple's choreographed by Neha Majeti and another couple dances choreographed by Manasa Jayanthi were most enjoyable and inspiring.

As part of the celebrations,TAGB felicitated Sri. Dhulipalla Venkateswara Rao, and Sri Gundavaram Papa Rao, for their outstanding contributions to TAGB and the Telugu community in the New England area for past 30 years.

Srinivas Kollipara, Govindarao Bhishetti, Ram Nunna and Dr. Ammani Dasari felicitated Sri. Dhulipalla Venkateswara Rao, while Baburao Polavarapu, Dr. Haribabu Muddana and Purnarao Bolineni felicitated Sri Gundavaram Papa Rao garu with shawls and mementos.

Winners of the Volleyball and the Tennis tournaments were presented with mementos. TAGB also conducted a blood drive in association with Red Cross of America. MCs for the event, Manasa Jayanthi, Kiran Pagadala, Rekha Kodukulla and Srilu Bandaru made the evening lively with their wonderful compering.

TAGB committee received lot of encouraging and affirmative feedback from the attendees about the variety and quality of the programs and the importance of these events for keeping our tradition and culture for next generations.

More than 35 variety programs were part of the 6 hour long event. The evening was concluded with a hilarious skit 'Eka Patrabhinayam' by Kiran Pagadala and Chandra Talluri filled the auditorium with laughter.

The Deepavali Dhamaka program was concluded with Indian National Anthem. As always, delicious dinner was provided by Minerva Indian Cuisine at a very nominal cost. Variety of vendor stalls at the venue attracted many attendees.
