5th TAL Children's Day celebrations in aid of UNICEF




London: Telugu Association of London (TAL) has celebrated '5th Annual Children's Day' marking Jawaharlal Nehru's Birthday and 3rd Telugu cultural centers (TCC) graduation day, TCCs are run by TAL throughout London to teach Telugu Language, Music, Classical Dance and Carnatic music.

The event was started by TAL treasurer Surya Kandukuri and Children & Women's Secratary Smt. Dharmavathi Nistala, with a minute of silence for baby Late. Saanvi Venna, who was brutally killed recently in the USA and all those children across the world who are losing lives due to poverty and ignorance.

Around 100 Children of all ages from 4 years age performed in various programmes exhibiting their talents in singing, dancing and playing violin etc. A number of children also have taken part in a fun fancy dress show and fun games. All the children's performances were hosted by children only by taking help from adults. Baby Lakshmi Sowmya, compared the whole event with a lot of enthusiasm.

Chief guest Mayoress of Hounslow Cllr. Mindhu Baines, has handed out the certificates to all children participated in the Kuchupudi dances learnt only for 5 days after school workshops conducted by Hamsanadi Kalaratna Awardee Sri. K.V. Satyanarayana.

Mayoress has greeted audience in Telugu saying 'Namaskaram' and thanked KVS who conducted Kuchipudi Workshop for children and adults. The Mayoress has felicitated Mr. KVS and Dr. Ramulu has facilitated Mayoress.

TAL Vice chairman, Mr. Mahesh Kumar Chadalvada said that on the occasion of TAL's 5th Children's day celebrations, TAL has gone through extensive planning and efforts to put together an education exhibition focusing on passing and sharing information about education in the UK for the first time in any event organised by Telugu people in Britain.

He mentioned that TAL has approached National Union of Teachers (NUT) to help all Telugu Parents to guide them for the best education for their kids also help in going through various entrance exams for kids. Mr. Mahesh Kumar thanked NUT representatives and Parents Madhav Rao, Durga Prasad and Ramki who have helped in organising the exhibition.

Mr. Surya Kandukuri, Trustee and Treasurer introduced Kalaratna Sri. K.V. Satyanarayana to audience and thanked him for coming all the way from India to help children and adults to learn Kuchipudi and Telugu Folk Dances in a week long workshop. He also indicated TAL will be conducting more workshops in coming years.

Mr. K.V.S praised TAL team for all the efforts in organising and encouraging parents and children to learn fine arts. He mentioned, Mrs Dharmavathi and Mr Surya have given him great support in running the workshops and he is pleased to see parents showing lot of enthusiasm and interest in getting their children into fine arts.

TAL trustees, Mr. Sanjay, Mr. Surya Kandukuri and Mr. Mahesh Kumar have stressed the importance of growing as one family "The TAL FAMILY" and the importance of 'making children learn our culture, tradition and especially learning Telugu language.

TAL Trustees have praised the hard work of volunteers Madhavi, Lavanya, Arpitha Reddy, Sandhya, Ganesh Kumar, Ravi Mocherla, Vamsee Mohan, Rajreddy, Kiran Reddy and all other volunteers who helped back to back to make this event a great success. Also thanked TCC teachers for their efforts in teaching Children their best.

TAL founder, Dr. Ramulu said he would like to see that Telugu people in the UK are positively received and requested all parents to co operation in making this happen through making use of the TCCs conducted by TAL.

Right Honourable Mrs. Seema Malhotra, Member of Parliament for Feltham and Heston has sent a letter of appreciation to TAL. She said 'The vibrant Telugu community are playing an increasingly active role in community life and I would like to congratulate the Telugu Association of London for going from strength to strength since the charity was founded in 2005'.

She has thanked the Chairman, Vice chairman and their team especially Mrs. Dharmavati Nistala, Women and Children's Secretary & her team for hard work in conducting this tremendous show for children.
