Underground Metro rail corridor impossible HYDERABAD: There is no scope to take up underground works in some segments of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project due to rocky terrain in the city, advocate-general A Sudarshan Reddy has told the HC.
A division bench comprising acting chief justice PC Ghose and justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar was dealing with a writ appeal by HMRL against the order passed by a single judge staying execution of all metro rail works pertaining to Corridor-3 between Greenlands and Shilparamam.
Justice Ghose asked the advocate-general whether it would be feasible to have underground works in the segment where works were opposed (by a group of people of Greenlands, Ameerpet, Madhuranagar, Yousufguda, Srikrishna Nagar areas who formed a joint action committee).
The advocate-general, appearing for HMRL and the government, ruled out taking up underground works due to rocky terrain.
