Congress gets shock as GHMC floor leader joins YSRCP Hyderabad, Dec 12 (INN): Giving a major shock to the Congress two days before the General Body meeting of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, party's floor leader Kaleru Venaktesh on Wednesday resigned from the post. He also submitted his resignation from the Congress party's primary membership to join the YSR Congress party.
After giving his resignation to Labour Minister and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president D Nagender, Venkatesh told INN that he quit the Congress party as it has lost the faith of the people.
He said that the Congress party has burdened the common man by increasing the prices of public utilities and essential commodities. Further, the State Government was not keen on taking up development works in Hyderabad and also discontinued the welfare schemes started by former Chief Minister late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Venkatesh said that due to the wrong policies of the Centre and State Governments, the Congress leaders have lost their image and were unable to face the public.
He said that YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy could solve the problems being faced by the people by reviving the schemes introduced by his late father. He also announced that he would work hard to strengthen the YSR Congress party in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
