Financiers' harassment drives man to suicide Hyderabad, December 25 (INN): A 40-year-old small businessman committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment of some financiers.
According to Rajendra Nagar police, the deceased, Syed Moinuddin, a resident of Happy Homes at Attapur, took the extreme step in the KGN Kirana Store that he was running near his residence for the last eight years.
On Monday afternoon, he reportedly asked his neighbour to pull down the shutter of his kirana store from outside as he was cleaning up the shop. After about two hours, his family members came to check as to why he did not come home for the lunch.
Finding no response after repeatedly knocking the shutter, the family members grew suspicious and broke open the shutter. They found that Moinuddin was hanging from the ceiling.
According to sources, police also found a suicide note wherein Moinuddin alleged that he was being harassed by some financiers as he was unable to repay the interest and loan that he took from them.
Police registered a case and started investigations. The body was handed over to the relatives after an autopsy was conducted at the Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday.
According to his friend Mohammad Shahnawaz, several people in the Attapur and surrounding localities have been facing the harassment by the financiers and despite several complaints, no action is being taken against them.
He alleged that although Moinuddin has clearly held financiers' harassment responsible for him taking the extreme step, police was treating his death as a suicide due to financial problems.
