Congress defends Mayor on GHMC meet
Hyderabad, February 6 (INN): The Congress party on Wednesday defended the decision of GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain in adjourning the corporation's ordinary meeting after passing the condolence motion on Sarojini Pulla Reddy.
Talking to reporters here, MLC MS Prabhakar, Deputy Mayor D Rajkumar and floor leader D Rambabu thanked the Mayor for passing the condolence motion.
They said that it was an established Parliamentary procedure to adjourn the session after passing a condolence motion although the Mayor has discretionary powers to continue the session.
Denying the allegations of match fixing between Congress and MIM over convening the GHMC meeting, they said that as discussed, the GHMC's special meeting will be held on February 18 to pass the budget.
They said that there were no obstacles in passing the GHMC's budget and it would be sent to the government before its deadline of February 21.
