Telugu Association of Saint Louis celebrates Sankranthi

Telugu Association of St. Louis (TAS), Missouri celebrated Sankranthi Sambaraalu 2013 on February 9th in a spectacular way. More than 1000 people attended the event and around 150 kids and adults participated in the cultural events.
Dressed in attires reflecting Telugu culture and tradition, artists presented a variety of cultural programs which drew huge applauses from the audience. Stage decoration, audio visuals and great theme to reflect Telugu culture in a village environment were highlight of the audience. The South Indian village atmosphere was created on the stage with full blown house set, life-size bullock cart, cow-and-calf, etc. and depicted the Telugu culture.
There was a three-hour cultural program including songs, poem recitals, instrumental and vocal recitals, Kuchipudi and Andhra Natyam classical dances of South India, movie dance sequences, etc. Many members took part in Rangoli competitions.
President Dr. Ramamamohan Reddy Paduru reminded everyone of the marvelous successes of TAS in 2011 and 2012 and laid out TAS's next two years plans to get involved in social service programs, especially to engage youth in the social activities. Vice-President Dr. Rama Krishna Gondi gave vote of thanks. TAS Secretary kicked off the program by inviting the TAS Executive committee and Board of Directors on to the stage for Ganesh invocation. Treasurer Muralikrishna Puttagunta managed member enrollments and reception area while Cultural Secretary Srikanth Saraswathula coordinated the cultural events. The participants were awarded TAS trophies.
Last but not the least, live music by Tamil Tappu Drums show in the dining area added more fun to the celebrations. Authentic Andhra dinner left the taste buds of everyone satisfied.
