GHMC budget meet on Monday Hyderabad February 17 (INN): The special meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will be held on Monday to approve Rs 3,800 crore budget for 2013-14.
It may be mentioned that the GHMC's Standing Committee has already approved the budget in its meeting held on December 13. However, due to several factors, the GHMC's council meeting could not be held to pass the budget.
Although the GHMC ordinary meeting was held on February 2, it was adjourned after paying tributes to former minister and Mayor Sarojini Pulla Reddy.
Since it is mandatory for the GHMC to pass the budget before February 21, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid convened a special meeting to pass the budget on February 18.
The GHMC has prepared a budget of Rs 3,800 while the revised budget will be of Rs 2,664 crore. The corporation has allocated Rs 813 crore towards Greater Hyderabad Development Project.
It also proposed to spend Rs 100 crore on the construction of storm water drains in its limits while 60 per cent of the spending would be done in the peripheries of Hyderabad.
In addition to Rs 25 crore for water supply and Rs 15 crore for sewerage, the GHMC plans to spend Rs 30 crore towards Summer Water Action Plan.
It also proposes to spend Rs 10 crore to prevent dengue and malaria, Rs 5 crore for Musi River project, Rs 5 crore rain water harvesting and Rs 5 crore for protection of Heritage Buildings.
