Reporter among five held in fake currency racket Hyderabad, March 8 (INN): The City Police on Friday arrested five persons who were involved in the circulation of counterfeit currency. The arrested accused are Mohd Irfan, Yousuf Ali Somali, Shaik Khaled, Hassan Hamza and Mohd Amjad Khan, all aged between 19-25 years.
Addressing a press conference at Old Commissioner's Office at Purani Haveli, DCP South Zone Tarun Joshi said that the accused Irfan used to buy the fake currency notes from one Ghouse of Talabkatta with an intention to use them as genuine. He has been giving fake currency notes to his friends Yousuf and Khaled to circulate them in the Pan Shops or Kirana Shops.
On coming to know the fake currency notes business, Hassan, a reporter of a cable news channel Metro Urdu, hatched a plan with his friends Amjad, Rahman, Babbu Khan and others. He took Yousuf and Irfan to the room of Amjad on March 5 night and after beating them up, they asked Irfan to pay Rs 2 lakh.
However, Kalapather Inspector Md Majeed learnt about the incident and arrested all the accused. The police also seized Rs 29,000 fake currency notes of 500 denomination, two wheeler vehicles, Metro TV logo, visiting cards, one handycam and four cell phones from the possession of accused.
