Greater Hyderabad to be slum free Hyderabad, March 25 (INN): Municipal Administration Minister M Maheedhar Reddy on Monday informed the State Legislative Assembly that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has prepared Slum Free City Plan of Action and prioritised the slums based on social status and deficiencies in infrastructure facilities.
The minister said that 290 slums have been selected in first year for development. The decision of Government of India is awaited. Accordingly, the GHMC has selected Keshav Nagar in Serilingampally Circle as Pilot Slum which was approved by State Level Steering Committee with a project cost of Rs 5,874.60 lakh and by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee.
Maheedhar Reddy said that development of 1,476 of slums have been proposed to be taken up over a period of five years. In the first year, Rs 2,292.60 Cr will be spent on 290 slums, Rs 2,175 Cr on 299 slums in second year, Rs 2,587.32 Cr on 299 slums in third year, Rs 2,598.11 Cr in fourth year and Rs 2,079.38 Crore will be spent for development of 289 slums in the fifth year.
The minister said that the total funds required for five years are Rs 11,732.41 Crores. Of this, an amount of Rs 9,185.72 crore is required for Housing. The sharing pattern for Housing is GOI-50 per cent, GoAP-20 per cent and Beneficiary - 30 per cent.
Similarly, an amount of Rs 2,546.69 Crore is required for Environmental Infrastructure and Social Infrastructure. The sharing patter for Infrastructure is GoI-50 per cent, GOAP-20 per cent and ULB - 30 per cent.
