Six-member burglars gang held Hyderabad, May 6 (INN): The Bollarum Police arrested a six-member alleged habitual house burglaries gang and seized 460 grams of Gold ornaments and around 2.5 Kgs of Silver ornaments, all worth Rs. 14.20 lakh, from its possession.
According to police, the gang members were apprehended when they were moving at Alwal Railway Station near Rytu Bazar Bollarum on Sunday to sell the stolen property.
The accused have been identified as Dekkali Sangam Arjun, Jakkula Durga, Poojarolla Durga, Poojarolla Yesu Raju, Pujari Prathap and Pujari Srikanth, all residents of Tukaramgate in Secunderabad.
On interrogation the six accused have reportedly confessed to have committed 15 House Breakings by Night offences of various police stations Bollarum, Begumpet, Trimulgherry, Marredpally, Tukaramgate and Bowenpally of North Zone, Hyderabad City.
According to police, the six accused are childhood friends, all are rag pickers and posters vendors. But they got addicted to vices like boozing, playing cards, smoking, Gutkha, etc., and spending money lavishly.
Their earning source being very meager, they could not fulfill their lavish desires due to which they have took to committing property offences.
They are all habitual offenders and they went to jail on several occasions from various police stations of Secunderabad. But soon after they were released again they have been taking up burgling the houses.
They go to residential colonies in the guise of garbage pickers during the day time to identify the locked houses and commit offences during night hours by break opening these houses and steal gold/silver articles and other valuables, police said.
North Zone DCP Ch Srikanth appreciated the good work done Bollaram inspector T Laxminarayana with the assistance of Sub-Inspectors N Sanjay Kumar and S Chennaiah, Head Constable KBN Chary and constables S Srinivas and K Anil Kumar. He said that the police team would be suitably rewarded.
