GHMC review meet on road widening

Hyderabad, May 9 (INN): Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has opined that because of the court cases the process of road widening is getting delayed, otherwise GHMC would have inaugurated Lakdikapul flyover a year ago.

The Mayor held a review meeting with the Town Planning Officials on road widening in GHMC limits in his chambers here on Thursday. During the review meeting Mayor directed the officials to file a Caveat soon after the issue of notification for acquisition of certain land in order to prevent status quos in that regard.

Mayor has informed that GHMC is spending approximately Rs. 294 crores for flyovers/ROBs/RUBs and Rs.94 crores for developing link roads and Rs. 225 crores for taking up road widening works.

He has directed the officials to go for land acquisition if the property owners are not coming forward for negotiation and instructed the officials to go for land acquisition near Morning Star Hotel in Circle 4 after giving 10 days time for negotiation.

Mayor has asked for the explanation of officials for want of revalidation for huge number of land acquisition cheques and directed them to set some deadlines for revalidation.

He further directed the Town Planning Officials to submit a report about the details of the number of approvals given by Standing Committee for land acquisition, the number of proposals processed and number of cheques that were lapsed.

The Officials have explained the Mayor that re-validation is getting delayed because of legal heir issues and promised that the process of revalidation will be simplified in order to save the time. Majid Hussain further directed the officials to dispose of all the cheques that are ready in 10-days time.

Mayor directed the officials to start the demolition of the acquired property soon after a cheque is issued. He further said that GHMC is taking up major things in road widening but because of non grounding the change is not felt and opined that if the pending proposals are grounded in coming six months GHMC could bring a greater change in the look of the City.

Mayor Majid Hussain has informed that the Commissioner, GHMC should negotiate with the concerned departments while acquiring the Government properties and while dealing with the private properties, Mayor directed the officials to take the cooperation of local public representatives in negotiation as well as during land acquisition.

Mayor has instructed the officials to liaise with the religious institutions and their heads while acquiring their properties under land acquisition and further informed that if the road widening is not taken up one cannot manage the traffic flow.

Majid Hussain further directed the officials that he will be holding review meeting on road widening for every 15 days and wanted some improvement in every meeting. While discussing about the land of CRPF at Barkas road, the officials have informed the Mayor that they have written to New Delhi for acquiring that land.

In response to that Mayor said that he would have gone to New Delhi along with the Commissioner, GHMC to resolve the issue and utilize the good officers of Hon'ble Member of Parliament in such issues.

K. Siva Parvathi, I/c. Additional Commissioner (Planning), G.V. Raghu, Chief City Planner, Land Acquisition Officers Suryakala, and Sri Raghunath Rao, Additional CCPs Sri Timma Reddy, Sri Narender and Sri Ramudu also participated in this review meet.
