Chivukula announces Job Fair in Central Jersey Somerset, New Jersey: New Jersey Assemblyman Upendra J. Chivukula announced that he will co-host a job fair on Wednesday in Central Jersey in collaboration with the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Raritan Valley Community College Career Services.
The four hour job fair will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on February 5 at The Imperia located at 1714 Easton Avenue in Somerset.
The job fair, which is intended to connect job-seekers with recruiters, will offer two workshops - the first, which is on social media, is scheduled to run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The second workshop on effective resume writing will run from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"Late last year, an estimated 90,000 New Jersey residents lost their federally funded unemployment benefits when the Republican-controlled Congress failed to extend federal benefits at the risk of causing severe hardship to an estimated 1.3 million unemployed in our country. Even though the unemployment rate in New Jersey was reported to have gone down to 7.3 percent in December from 7.8 percent in November, it is incumbent upon us to do whatever we can to help state residents get jobs," Chivukula (D-Somerset\Middlesex) said.
"On Wednesday, we hope to connect many job-seekers with recruiters that represent private and public entities with employment opportunities. We encourage state residents looking for employment to take advantage of the upcoming career forum on February 5 and look forward to helping qualified individuals find employment," Chivukula added.
Among the nearly 50 companies that will be participated in the job fair are New York Life, MetLife, Paychex Inc., L'oreal, TD Bank and The Imperia. College and university representatives will offer information regarding financial aid and other resources. These include Raritan Valley Community College, William Paterson, Kean University and Rutgers University.
Space is still available for organizations\companies to host a free table. For more information kindly contact Joe Forte, legislative aide at the district office of Assemblyman Chivukula at 732-247-3999 or via email at jforte@njleg.org
