TANA Celebrates Women and Youth Day on 8th New Jersey: TANA celebrates the International Women's Day with a special program for Telugu youth and women, Reaching for the Stars, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Royal Alberts Palace in Edison, NJ. The day-long event will focus on celebrating the many achievements of Telugu youth and women in various fields and recognizing some of the STARS in the Telugu community, Mohan Nannapaneni, President of TANA, Dr. Chowdary Jampala, Executive Vice-President and Ravi Potluri, Regional Representative, Mid-Atlantic, said in a press release.
Much celebrated youth icon Nina Davuluri, who stunned the world by winning the crown of Miss America, is the Chief Guest at this event. The first Telugu woman to be elected to a state legislature (Maryland), Aruna Miller will be the Guest of Honor. Aravind Mahankali, the Telugu whiz-kid that won the 2013 National Spelling Bee will be honored. Singing phenomenon Subha Vedula, a semifinalist in the American Idol 2012 competition will be celebrated along with many other Telugu Young STARs, including aspiring space scientists Kavya Manyapu and Sirisha Bandla, the Youth Poet Laureate of New York City - Ramya Ramana, and the Commencement Speaker at University of Alabama- Swapna Kakani. Several prominent Telugu Woman STARs from the Mid-Atlantic region, including Dr. Tulasi Polavarapu, Dr. Sunitha Kanumury, Dr. Meera Boppana, Dr. Shalini Patcha, Dr. Janani Krishna, Janaki Rao, Jayaprada Vallurupalli, Saroja Sagaram and Shobha Tummala will be recognized for their achievements and many contributions to the community.
There will be a Meet and Greet program for Telugu youth in the afternoon where they will get to interact with the special guests of the day. This will be followed by panel discussions, a Telugu Youth Talent Show and a fashion show. The evening entertainment would be anchored by Jhansi and singer Sunitha and would include a fabulous musical concert featuring singers Geetha Madhuri, Pranavi and Saketh under the direction of Sri Ramachary. Comedian Venky and actor Nandu will also perform.
The events are open for all Telugu people and not just women or youth. The Meet and Greet program, however, is reserved for the Telugu youth only. A large number of Telugus from all around the country are expected to attend this special event. We invite you to actively participate in the program.
