Nayani launches Bharosa Centre Hyderabad, May 7 (INN): 'Bharosa', an integrated support centre for distressed women and children, was inaugurated here by Telangana Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy.
Bharosa, an initiative of Hyderabad City Police, is a state-of-the-art centre to support women and children who are victims of violence.
The centre, which was announced on International Women's Day, will provide under one roof 24X7 services related to police, medical, legal, prosecution, psycho-therapeutic counselling and relief and rehabilitation.
The centre is equipped with well-trained staff and modern gadgets, including facilities like video conferencing, so that the victims need not go to the court.
Speaking to media persons later, Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy said that the Centre would go a long way in preventing victims of extreme violence from moving from pillar to post to different institutions and agencies. Its objective is to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services and to work towards resolving conflict in families by involving civil society. It also aims to monitor every case and take it to its logical end, the Hyderabad Police chief explained.
This centre has been set up with the help of several NGOs and government departments.
The Center will provide all integrated services 24/7 that are related to Police, Medical, Legal, Prosecution and Psycho-therapeutic Counselling. The Center is equipped with well trained and highly motivated staff and modern gadgets including facilities like Video Conferencing, so that the victim need not go to the Court at all.
Other key features of Bharosa are the provision of relief and rehabilitation to the victims. Special provisions for investigation of child related cases have been set up in the center.
With the initial financial support from the Department of Women and Child Welfare and technical help from Tharuni NGO, the Center came into being with several other stakeholders coming forward for the cause.
Bharosa is located in the Ground Floor of HACA Bhavan, Saifabad, Hyderabad. Bharosa means Reassurance, Trust, Confidence and Faith and it will definitely stand up to its meaning with the support of everyone who strongly feels that women and children need to be protected.
Director General of Police Anurag Sharma, Principal Secretary (Home) Rajiv Trivedi and other senior officials were also present. (INN)
