'Kalyana Lakshmi' will benefit over 58,000 girls: Jogu Ramanna Hyderabad, May 13 (INN): BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna said that the Telangana Government was taking all measures for effective implementation of 'Kalyana Lakshmi' scheme which provides Rs. 51,000 cash incentive to the poor girls at the time of their marriage.
Speaking to media persons after launching the website of Kalyana Lakshmi scheme at the State Secretariat here on Friday, the minister said that the schemes, which was earlier confined to SCs and STs, has been extended to BCs and OBCs from current financial year. He said Rs. 300 crore have been earmarked for the scheme which would benefit 58,820 poor girls.
The minister advised people to avoid middlemen and discourage any irregularities. He said on furnishing all required documents, the State Government directly deposits the amount in the account of beneficiaries.
BC Welfare Principal Secretary Somesh Kumar, Commissioner BC Welfare G.D. Aruna, BC Residential Schools Secretary Mallaiah and other senior officials were also present on the occasion. Later, the minister also unveiled the new logo of BC Welfare Schools.
