People will defeat arrogant TRS: TPCC Chief

Khammam, May 13 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that the voters of Palair Assembly Constituency in Khammam district will crush the arrogance of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the by-elections being held on May 16.

Addressing different election meetings in Palair on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy described the contest as a battle between morality and political arrogance. "TRS party and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao wants to take advantage of untimely demise of sitting MLA Ramreddy Venkatreddy. Instead of giving Ramreddy's family an opportunity to fulfill his accomplished dreams, KCR fielded R&B Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao to increase its tally in Assembly. This is nothing but arrogance and greed for power," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy thanked TDP and YSRCP for supporting the candidature of Congress candidate and Ramreddy's widow Sucharitha Reddy. "TRS should have set a good precedent by ensuring the unanimous election of Sucharitha Reddy in Palair by-election. However, KCR repeated what he did in Narayankhed with the family of late Kista Reddy. Both Kista Reddy and Ramreddy Venkatreddy were known in their constituencies for their selfless service for people, especially poor. Even Tummala Nageshwara Rao had endorsed the great services of Ramreddy while giving a condolence message on his demise. But the greed to win another MLA seat has driven TRS leaders to the extent that they broke all traditions and morals and they want to erase the contribution of a great leader by winning the Palair seat at any cost," he said.

The TPCC chief accused the TRS Government of misusing the official machinery in Palair by-elections. He alleged that some police officials were acting like TRS agents and asked the Election Commission of India to take a serious note of series of violations of Model Code of Conduct. He warned the TRS Government against intimidating the Congress workers in Khammam district. He said such tactics would not only strengthen the Congress party's resolve to defeat the immoral and unethical TRS party.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress campaign was quite successful and people of Palair have assured they would vote in favour of Sucharita Reddy to teach TRS and KCR a fitting lesson. "We are confident of winning the Palair seat with a comfortable majority. All tactics, being adopted by TRS will prove futile. TRS leaders might have gained expertise in playing mind games. But Congress party knows the art of winning people's hearts. The downfall of TRS Government will begin from Palair, he said.
