BJP threatens to intensify protest over drought Hyderabad, May 17 (INN): Telangana BJP has threatened to intensify its protest over the alleged failure of TRS Government in handling drought situation in the State.
Addressing a day-long dharna at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park on Tuesday, Telangana BJP President Dr. K. Lakshman said that the State Government has completely failed to deal with the drought situation. He said while several farmers committed suicide, thousands have migrated to other cities in search of livelihood. He also alleged that the NREGS was not being implemented properly in the drought affected areas.
Lakshman also alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was not serious on the agricultural sector. He alleged that KCR did not give appointment to the BJP delegation for submitting a memorandum on the drought issue. He said that the Chief Minister was still focussed on politics and has been running the administration from his farm house.
BJP MLA G. Kishan Reddy alleged that the Telangana Government has misused Rs. 700 crore which were given by the Centre for drought affected areas. He threatened that the BJP would intensify its agitation if the State Government fails to provide relief to the drought affected people.
BJP legislators NVSS Prabhakar, Chintala Ramchander Reddy and N. Ramchander Rao and hundreds of workers participated in the dharna.
