KCR hoists India's Second largest tricolor Telangana state has celebrated its second formation day today and the government is officially celebrating the eve across all district headquarters. CM KCR himself started the celebrations paying tributes to the martyrs of Telangana at the Gun Park in Hyderabad. KCR observed silence for two minutes after offering flowers at the Telangana Martyrs' Memorial.
On the eve of formation day the chief minister unfurled a mammoth national flag on the country's second tallest flag post at a height of 290 feet at Sanjeevaiah Park in the city. The flag was 108 feet wide and 72 feet high.
The flag can be viewed from anywhere in the city within 20 km radius. The tower is erected on a 30/30 feet base. The flag, which cost Rs 3 crores to make, comes second to the 293 feet tall flag post in Ranchi.Originally planned to be 303 feet high, the flag post was reduced to 290 feet after the aviation department's suggestion.
