Energy Dept staff calls off proposed strike Hyderabad, June 14 (INN): The employees' unions of energy department in Telangana State have withdrawn the strike which was proposed to be held from Wednesday onwards.
The unions have called off the strike following an assurance given by Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy of resolving all the issues in a phased manner. The State Government has also agreed to regularise the services of Contract Junior Linemen in the Energy Department. It has also agreed to fill additional posts in the department. The minister responded to nearly 34 demands made by the unions.
The State Government has also agreed to pay an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 10 lakh for the on-duty death of contract employees and completely free treatment in case of injuries.
