Mallanna sagar project: Guidelines issued Hyderabad, June 18 (INN): The Telangana Government on Saturday issued guidelines on the works of Mallanna Sagar project works which ran into troubled waters, with the opposition parties finding fault with the project's design, saying there was no need for building such a large reservoir that could lead to massive flooding. Accordingly, river water would be diverted till Singur dam.
TRS public representatives and party leaders have submitted memoranda to the local officials in the districts across the state on Saturday urging the state government to take up the project work while contending that the project would be a boon to the state, starved of rainfall and lack of irrigation facilities.
It may be mentioned that the residents of Etigadda Kistapur and 13 other villages are up in arms against the government and vowed not to part with their lands. They are insisting on getting compensation under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, instead of the package being offered by the state government as per the GO123.
