CPI wants ECI to disqualify defectors Hyderabad, June 22 (INN): CPI Telangana State secretary Chada Venkatreddy wrote to Election Commission of India about the inaction of the Speakers of Telangana and AP State Assemble in dealing with defections of legislators in the two states.
In his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi, Reddy said that there has been a spate of defections in both States, but the speakers of both the state Assemblies did not take any action against the legislators crossing the floor. He appealed the ECI to intervene into the matter and direct the respective Assembly Speakers to disqualify the MLAs defecting their respective parties.
He said that CPI's MLA Ravindar Kumar had defected to TRS and wanted the ECI to immediately disqualify him as this was giving way to more corruption practices.
