All set for hike in RTC fares, power tariff Hyderabad, June 22 (INN): The Telangana Government is all set to increase the RTC fares and power tariff. The State Government is likely to issue orders increasing the RTC fares on Thursday.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday conducted a detailed review meeting with the officials of RTC and Energy Department. According to sources, the officials of both the departments proposed hike in tariff which have been accepted by the Chief Minister. However, KCR directed the officials to ensure that the common man was less burdened due to the hike.
The Chief Minister said that there should be no increase in power tariff for consumers using less than 100 units per month and there should marginal hike for those using above 100 units in domestic sector. According to sources, of nearly 46 lakh consumers, nearly 7 lakh consumer use less than 100 units and they would remain unaffected due to hike. It is proposed to increase the industrial tariff by 7%.
KCR assured that the State Government would extend financial assistance to RTC, Energy Department and Singareni Collieries Company Limited. He blamed the previous regimes for the sorry state of affairs in RTC.
The review meeting was attended by R&B Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, GENCO CMD Prabhakar Rao, RTC MD Ramana Rao and other senior officials.
