100 fish market yards on the anvil Hyderabad, Dec 23 (INN): Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday said that the State Government was planning to establish 100 fish market yards across the Telangana State.
Replying to a query during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly, Srinivas Yadav said that the State Government has allocated funds for the fisheries development in the state. He said that earlier government had allocated funds as low as Rs 5 crore to the fisheries.
The minister asked the MLAs to identify the land for the market yard and promised to establish the same at the earliest. He said that the state government had supplied 30 crore fish seeds and the same were released in various tanks across the state to boost fish production. He said that the government was promoting blue revolution by taking these steps. He said that the storage facilities were being upgraded so as to enhance fish export.
Srinivas Yadav said that from the next financial year the government would take steps to eliminate the interference of middlemen in the sale of fish produce.
