Polavaram gets Rs 1981 crore
Hyderabad, Dec 26 (INN): The Centre on Monday released Rs 1981 crore towards the works of Polavaram Project in Andhra Pradesh. This is the first installment of loan for the mega project which has been declared a national project.
The funds from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) were given to AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the form of cheque in New Delhi.
Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti handed over the cheque to Chandrababu Naidu in the presence of Union Ministers Arun Jaitley and Venkiah Naidu.
Speaking on the occasion, Uma Bharati said that the NABARD created history by lending loans for the irrigation project. She said that the Centre was giving priority in irrigation projects. Finance minister Arun Jaitley assured the AP CM that the Centre would extend more help to various projects in AP, including capital construction.
