TS Govt to give boost to blue revolution
Hyderabad, Dec 30 (INN): Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Friday said that the Telangana Government was promoting blue revolution through cooperative societies.
Speaking in the Legislative Council during short discussion on fisheries development, Srinivas Reddy said that state government has initiated various measures for the empowerment fishermen community. He said that the state government distributed fish seeds to the fishermen.
Most of the lakes, reservoirs and water bodies in the state received abundant water sources and hence the state government decided to release fish seeds in these tanks. He said fish seeds were released in as many as 4,690 tanks across the state.
The minister said that the state government was taking various initiatives like setting up fish markets, increasing fish storage facilities as part of its promoting blue revolution aimed at boosting fish cultivation. He said that 490 community calls would be constructed and the funds for the same have already been released.
