KTR announces 465 KM water pipeline
Hyderabad, Dec 30 (INN): Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Friday announced that the State Government would lay a new pipeline on a stretch of 465 KM at a cost of Rs. 502 crore to improve drinking water supply in the city.
Replying to a question raised by MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and other legislators in Legislative Assembly during Question Hour, the minister said that the core city areas need water pipelines as well as sewerage lines. He said that the government proposes to lay new sewerage lines on a stretch of 945 KM at a cost of Rs. 1240 KM. He said both the works would be completed soon. He also said that the government plans to supply drinking water to all households in Hyderabad on daily basis under Mission Bhagiratha.
For surrounding municipal circles of GHMC, the minister informed, the water supply improvement project has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 1900 crore. For the village situated beyond GHMC and within ORR, State Government has accorded administrative sanction for the project on Annuity model and tenders have been called. Of Rs. 1900 crore, HUDCO was providing a loan of Rs. 1200 crore while the State Government's contribution would be Rs. 200 crore. He said that the works were in brisk progress and are expected to be completed by February 2018.
