HC shocker to TS Govt on GO 123
Hyderabad, Jan 5 (INN): The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the Telangana Government not to acquire lands for irrigation projects under the State Government G.O. M.S. No.123. The High Court, however, said that the government can acquire land under Land Acquisition Act- 2013.
The High Court passed the orders on petitions filed by farmers affected by projects like Mallanna Sagar and others irrigation projects. They alleged that the government was forcibly taking their lands under the GO bypassing the Land Acquisition Act.
However, the government denied the allegations and said that it was acquiring lands only from those who are coming forward voluntarily.
