RTC gets 1.34 Cr HUDCO assistance Hyderabad, Jan 13 (INN): The Housing & Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has provided Rs. 134.33 lakhs under CSR assistance to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) for providing LED lighting system at Bus Bhavan and Bus Depots.
HUDCO Chairman & Managing Director M. Ravikanth handed over the Sanction-Letter-Cum-Agreement to RTC chairman S. Satyanarayana and Managing Director G.V. Ramana Rao at a function here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the RTC Chairman informed that bus depots and bus stations of TSRTC are provided with H.T. and L.T. power supplies for lighting and industrial loads. As a part of Energy Conservation modes by Government, it is proposed to provide energy efficient eco-friendly LED lighting system at Bus Bhavan and Bus depots of TSRTC in Greater Hyderabad zone.
LEDs have life span of up to 60,000 burning hours compared to 1,500 burning hours for Incandescent Bulbs and 6,000 burning hours of fluorescent tubes. Besides long lifespan of LEDs, maintenance cost is very low compared to traditional incandescent and fluorescent tubes. The existing power consumption at Bus Bhavan and Depots of Greater Hyderabad Zone put together is about 1,24,980 Units per month which amounts Rs.12,00,000/- Per month. By implementing LED lights the power consumption will be reduced by 50% which saves the power bill by Rs.6,00,000/- Per month i.e.,Rs.72,00,000/- Per annum.
The RTC chairman said a detailed project report with above details submitted to HUDCO under HUDCO-CSR scheme for assistance of Rs.134.33 lakhs for replacement of existing traditional fluorescent tubes with LED tubes at Bus Bhavan and Depots of the Greater Hyderabad Zone. After examining the DPR, the HUDCO has agreed to provide the financial assistance under CSR Scheme.
