Harish Rao visits Jangaon Agriculture Market
Hyderabad, Jan 21 (INN): Irrigation and Marketing Minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday conducted a surprise visit of Jangaon Agricultural Market and resolved the dispute over purchase of Tur Dal between the farmers and officials.
The farmers and officials were at loggerheads for the last three days over the Minimum Support Price for Tur Dal. On information, Harish Rao, along with Transport Minister Mahender Reddy, visited the market to resolve the dispute. The farmers complained of non-payment of MSP. The Minister directed the FCI and other officials to make arrangements for immediate purchase of Tur Dal reaching the market.
Speaking to media persons later, the minister informed that 80 Centres, across the Telangana State, have been set up for purchase of Tur Dal. Of them, 63 have already started functioning. He said so far 1.85 Lakh Tonnes of Tur Dal have been purchased by four institutions from 17,074 farmers.
