Centre will develop 40 industrial corridors: Gadkari Visakhapatnam, Jan 28 (INN): There is a great scope for development of Andhra Pradesh through Sagar Mala Project, said Union Minister of Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari while addressing the Partnership Summit 2017 in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
The Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was giving top priority for development of infrastructure facilities in India. Only 18 kms roads were constructed per day during the last year whereas 30 Kms roads were built presently. The government is spending Rs.3.50 lakhs on construction of roads in the country by December 2017. There are several advantages if we construct the roads by connecting with ports. SagarMala Project was taken up at the cost of Rs.15 Lakh crores and Rs.1 Lakh crores was already spent on this prestigious project.Roads are coming up along the long the coast of 7500 Kms in India, he said.
Gadkari said logistic expenditure would be reduced due to Sagar Mala Project. The State Governments will take care of acquisition of land for Sagar Mala Project, he said.
The Union Minister said 40 Industrial corridors are being built in the country on international standards. Two coastal economic zones will be set up in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs.8 lakh crores. 1 crore people will get employment opportunities through the coastal economic zones and industrial corridors. The government will also sanction several projects to Andhra Pradesh namely Rs.1000 crores for Central road fund, and Rs.3500 crores for road over bridges etc. The works will be started during this year only. The Central Government has sanctioned Rs.6,000 crores for development of Visakhapatnam Port. Some of the works were also completed at a cost of Rs.1665 crores and some more works are in progress at a cost of Rs.2200 crores. The Union Government has also sanctioned Rs.1500 crores for taking up some more development works in the Visakhapatnam Port, he said.
