 News: Headline News | KCR for BC Reservation in Legislatures
Hyderabad, Dec 3 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that state government would request the Centre to bring an Act in the parliament for according reservations to the BCs in the legislatures.
KCR reminded that when the Telangana State was formed a resolution to this effect was passed. He said all the political parties want reservation for BCs in the legislatures and the Government put this before the Centre as the State's demand. He announced that on this issue an all-party delegates' team would visit Delhi and put pressure on Prime Minister Modi. He said request would also be made to the PM to set up a separate BC Welfare Ministry at the centre and give reservations to the BCs in promotions.
The Chief Minister has requested the legislative Assembly Speaker to allocate one day long deliberations on the measures, programmes to be taken up for the welfare and development of the BCs in the Legislative Session. He has decided that after the BC public representatives have discussions for three to four days, based on the recommendations the matters will be discussed in the Assembly to bring in the necessary Bills, GOs and decisions.
The meeting on BC's welfare and develop continued post lunch session. MLAs Laxman and Krishnaiah have thanked the CM for conducting a meeting on the BC's issues. They described the meeting as a good opportunity to deliberate on the BC's development, measures to be taken etc., Along with these two MLAs some others have given suggestions to the meeting and the CM responded to them.
'We are ready implement measures for the development of BC's within the jurisdiction of the State. Let us implement reservations in the local bodies. We will provide reservations to the BCs in the lands allotted for the entrepreneurs by the TSIIC. Plan schemes which are needed for the BCs and discuss with all the caste organisations. Take everybody's opinion and prepare a report and come to the government. The report given by you will be treated as an instruction by the government and will implement it. Once you get clarity let us have a day's debate in the Assembly and then announce the policies. There are no politics in the matter. Every party representative wants development and welfare of the BCs. The government is not going to take any credit and let us tell the people it is a united effort of all the parties. This will send a positive message to the people,' the CM said.
'There are some problems for some communities while getting a caste certificate and there are some problems among communities over getting the benefit of the government policies. Certain communities have identity crisis. The public representatives have to show the implementable policy,' the CM said.
