TRS wins while Kutami is in shock
Hyderabad, Dec 11 (INN): By winning a record 87 out of 119 seats, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has registered a historic victory in the Telangana Assembly elections whose results were declared on Tuesday.
The 'Praja Kutami' (People's Front) compromising of Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI got just 22 seats. Of them Congress bagged 20 seats while TDP got two seats while TJS and CPI could not win a single seat. MIM retained 7 seats while BJP's tally got reduced from 5 in last Assembly to just one now. Rebel candidate Chander Patel who contested on AIFB ticket won the elections from Ramagundem.
By retaining power, caretaker Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao has broken the myth of ruling party losing power if it goes for early polls. By contesting all seats on its own, TRS has defeated the Praja Kutami, BJP, BLF and communities parties.
Several political stalwarts including Speaker of dissolved Assembly S. Madhusudan Chary, four ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Tummala Nageswara Rao, P. Mahender Reddy and Azmeera Chandulal lost the elections. Further, Leader of Opposition in dissolved Assembly K. Jana Reddy, Telangana BJP president Dr. K. Lakshman, floor leader G. Kishan Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, T. Jeevan Reddy, Dr. J. Geetha Reddy and others have lost elections. Two Working Presidents of TPCC Ponnala Prabhakar and Revanth Reddy and three AICC Secretaries G. Chinna Reddy, Ch. Vamshichand Reddy and Sampath Kumar also lost the elections.
While the results were surprising for TRS, they have put Congress and other Praja Kutami leaders in a state of shock.
