Arrangements on for Lok Sabha polls Hyderabad, Jan 28 (INN): Telangana Chief Secretary Dr. S.K. Joshi said the State administration would make elaborate arrangements to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of elections for Lok Sabha as they did for Assembly elections in December last year.
Dr. Joshi was participating in the video-conference held by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora from New Delhi with Chief Secretaries, CEOs, DGPs and other officials of all State Governments on Monday. DGP Mahender Reddy, CEO Dr. Rajt Kumar and other officials of the State Government also participated in the video-conference.
The Chief Secretary assured that all measures would be taken for the forthcoming Parliamentary elections and all facilities would be provided in the polling stations. He informed that the electoral rolls for Telangana State would be published on February 22. He said a meeting with top officials of neighbouring States would be held on February 5. He said budget would also be allocated for the conduct of elections.
Meanwhile, DGP Mahender Reddy informed that Assembly elections were conducted in a highly peaceful manner. Similarly, two phases of Panchayat polls were held successfully and the third phase of polling will be held on January 30. He said special measures would be taken for naxal affected areas by coordinating with Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. He said efforts would be made to prevent the flow of liquor and cash by setting up check posts.
CEO Raja Kumar informed that Telangana State had required number of staff, Returning Officers and AROs. The toll free number 1950 has been activated to receive grievances pertaining to electoral rolls. Nearly 16 lakh claims and objections have been received during the special drive for electoral rolls revision.
