GoM on T seeks department-wise report New Delhi, Oct 19 (INN): The Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana has sought department-wise details on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
The GoM, which met here on Saturday, discussed various issues, especially the road map to be adopted for State's bifurcation to carve out Telangana. It also asked the Secretaries of concerned departments to prepare a detailed report on bifurcation in consultation with the officials of Andhra Pradesh Government.
Talking to reporters later, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, who chaired the GoM meeting, said that major issues like sharing of power and water resources was discussed during the meeting. He also informed that the Union Home Ministry was in receipt of nearly 2,000 e-mails, mostly in favour of bifurcation.
These e-mail are being divided into 11 different categories and they would be sent to the concerned departments. He said the issues raised in the e-mails would be addressed and it would monitored by Principal Secretariat.
Shinde said that a detailed report on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh would be ready by the end of November. He also said that top priority would be given to the grievances of Seemandhra people. He said the Telangana Bill would be sent to the Assembly only after justifying the people of Seemandhra. The GoM would meet again on November 7.
GoM member Defence Minister AK Antony, who headed a high-powered committee constituted after the Congress Working Committee's resolution, did not attend Saturday's meeting. He could not participate in the first meeting held on October 11 due to ill-health.
The other members of GoM include Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily and Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh. Minister of State for Personnel V. Narayanasamy is a special invitee.
