CM Kiran's tour soon for united state HYDERABAD: Even as the Congress circles are abuzz with speculation that a new political party might soon be floated by the chief minister to cash in on the united Andhra sentiment in Seemandhra, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has said that the CM will soon tour Seemandhra to garner support for Samaikyandhra.
Rajagopal, who seems to be following in the footsteps of Kiran in revolting against party high command probably in order to emerge as the crusader of Samaikyandhra, heaped praises on chief minister for firmly trying to oppose the Centre's decision to bifurcate AP.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, the maverick MP disclosed the future political moves of Kiran Reddy, saying that the CM was all set to tour every nook and corner of Seemandhra to seek people's support.
In fact, the possibility of Kiran floating a new political party has been a hot topic in the political circles ever since he started attacking his party leadership.
According to sources, even the CM himself had dropped a few hints to this effect before some of the ministers from Seemandhra some days ago.
'Let's put in all-out efforts to stall the T-process by defeating the Telangana bill when it is referred to the Assembly. If we fail to achieve our aim, we will try to walk out of Congress and set up another party,' Kiran Reddy was quoted as saying.
On the other hand, a minister close to the CM told Express that Kiran was now hoping that he might get the support of APNGOs for his proposed party, if it is formed.
Meanwhile, the talk in the Congress circles is that Lagadapti Rajagopal would join the new party, if it is floated by Kiran, as he is reportedly of the opinion that he may not get Congress nomination to contest from Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat.
Union minister D Purandeswari, who represents Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat is said to be eying on Vijayawada seat with Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy being keen on contesting from Visakhapatnam for Lok Sabhha on Congress ticket this time.
Purandeswari's recent visit to Vijayawada along with her husband D Venkateswara Rao and holding meetings with several public representatives, trade bodies from West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts in Vijayawada give further credence to this argument.
