CM clarifies on Sonia 'tomb' row HYDERABAD: Being attacked by Telangana Congress leaders for not publicly condemning the construction of a 'tomb' for the AICC supremo Sonia Gandhi in his native Chittoor district, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy issued a statement saying that he had not remained silent on the issue.
'As soon as I came to know about the incident, I immediately issued orders to the officials concerned in Tirupati to initiate stringent action against those responsible for such heinous act. I ordered the officials not to spare anyone responsible for it, irrespective of their political affiliation,' Kiran Reddy said in a press release.
According to the chief minister, the police had acted immediately and 10 persons were arrested in connection with the incident. The perpetrators were also produced in the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, coming down heavily on his detractors, Kiran Reddy said only those who had lost their mental balance were making such remarks.
