'Heart-broken' Eflu student ends life HYDERABAD: Usha Sahu, a 24-year-old B.Ed student of the English and Foreign Languages University, allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room here Monday evening. She was found hanging at about 7 p.m. by students.
Usha was from Odisha. According to her friends, she had been staying alone in her hostel room for the past few months since her roommate, a PhD scholar, left the university after submitting her thesis.
Rathan Ranjan Kumar, ACP, Kachiguda, said the reason behind the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Eflu authorities informed that the girl had left behind a suicide note stating that she committed suicide due to 'relationship problems.'
Usha, according to students, was alive after she was found and was initially shifted to the university health centre and then, to the Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital at the nearby Andhra Mahila Sabha.
She breathed her last soon after and the body was shifted to the Gandhi hospital. Ranjan Kumar said post-mortem would be conducted on Tuesday morning. Eflu officials also informed that the girl's mobile phone was with the police and that they were trying to contact her family.
Usha joined the one-year B.Ed course in August this year. Her suicide is the third on the campus this year, the first two being that of two PhD students. Incidentally, the counselling centre on the campus was thrown open to the students just a month-and-a-half ago.
