Payyavula to move SC over division Hyderabad: TDP leader P Keshavulu announced that he intends to challenge the Union Cabinet decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in the Supreme Court. The petition is likely to be filed before November 1.
At different stages of the bifurcation process, separate petitions will be filed in the Apex Court, he said. Keshavulu drew a distinction that he was not doing it on behalf of the TDP, but in his own personal capacity.
The fine distinction became necessary, as the TDP does not want to be seen as anti-Telangana. Keshavulu said that the TDP was not opposed to creation of Telangana but was only seeking justice for the people of Seemandhra region.
Keshavulu said he has come here to hold consultations with senior lawyers and after firming up the case, he will proceed in the matter. There is no harm in challenging the Union Cabinet decision in the court, he said.
The TDP leader referred to the confusion and controversy over whether the Resolution or the Telangana Bill will be referred to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
Initially, it was even claimed that twice over the Andhra Pradesh Assembly opinion will be sought ' once when the Resolution is referred by the President to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and the second time when the Draft Telangana Bill will be referred for the comments of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
Now, it has been made clear that the Resolution will not be referred and only the Telangana Bill will be sent to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
