Eflu student had attempted suicide in the past HYDERABAD: Usha Sahu (27), B.Ed student of the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu), who hanged herself in her hostel room on Monday night, had reportedly attempted suicide once in the past in a flat due to personal reasons.
This was revealed by some of her friends on the campus and was corroborated by police officials who said exact details would be known on Wednesday.
Police are, however, probing whether a failed relationship was the reason for her suicide. 'She had been a little depressed for some time due to personal reasons. This time, she was alone and there was no one to stop her,' said a friend of hers.
Student groups alleged that even Eflu authorities had harassed her, but Usha's close friends and some classmates dismissed the same and said her suicide had nothing to do with the university.
'She was emotional, and this incident had nothing to do with the university. She took the step herself,' said Maitree, one of her friends.
Maitree said Usha had moved into Eflu campus a few months ago after she joined the B.Ed course. She said she had known Usha since 2011 and that she had enrolled in a diploma course before she joined the B.Ed stream.
Sujata Mukhri, deputy proctor, said the police had found no suicide note in Usha's bedroom but took away some papers from there.
Ganesh Sahu, brother-in-law of the girl, came here and took the body to her home in Odisha. 'She had two sisters. Her parents are very old and so they could not come,' he said.
