Survey data compliation proceeds at snail's pace HYDERABAD: Data compilation of the collected information from the 'Samagrah Kutumba Survey' (Intensive Household Survey-2014), held on August 19, is yet to take off in two zones of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The corporation is finding trouble in allocating works to the agencies in the Central and South Zones, comprising 9.18 households, due to financial issues. While the GHMC has quoted `15 to compile data of each household, the firms have been insisting on `20. As many as five lakh households were enumerated in the Central Zone while the number stood at 4.18 lakh in the South Zone.
Meanwhile, the compilation process in the remaining three zones -- East (3.5 lakh households), West (4 lakh households) and North (5.05 lakh households) -- is also progressing at a slow pace. Of the 11.5 lakh households, the process has been completed only for 2.1 lakh as of Friday.
GHMC officials admitted that the process was proceeding at a slow pace but assured that it would pick up pace once the required infrastructure and manpower was put in place.
If the negotiations with the agencies fail, the GHMC plans to utilise the services of college students by providing them required infrastructure like spacious place, computers with 100 Mbps internet, printers, power supply and others.
'In some districts of Telangana, `10 per household is being paid,' officials said and added that `20 per household was not agreeable to the corporation.
The task of entering data has been assigned to two city-based agencies -- Karvy Data Management Services td (North and East Zones) and SNR Data (West Zone).
Compilation of data in all Telangana districts except Greater Hyderabad began in the third week of August and the state government had set September 15 as the deadline for the completion of the process.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) had provided two software packages, one for the GHMC and the other for the rest of the state, officials said.
