North coastal region stoic on new capital VISAKHAPATNAM: At a time when Krishna district broke into celebrations and Rayalaseema region erupted with protests, North Coastal Andhra has remained relatively silent over the state government's announcement to establish the capital in the vicinity of Vijayawada city.
The residents of the region, particularly Visakhapatnam city, had no qualms over losing the capital, with most denizens feeling that no one can stop the growth of Visakhapatnam city, provided the state government facilitates development in an even manner.
At the same time, people from the region cautioned that the government should ensure the development of all regions including Visakhapatnam, which is the largest city in the state.
