KCR returns after 2-day Delhi visit HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao returned here on Sunday evening after a two-day visit to Delhi where he lobbied with the central government for special category status to the newly-created state.
After submitting a detailed memorandum to prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday on what the state was expecting from the Centre, Rao called on Union ministers Rajnath Singh (home) Smriti Irani (HRD), Prakash Javadekar (I&B) and sought central help for various initiatives his government was taking.
According to sources, Rao, at his meeting with Rajnath Singh, raised the issue of conferring powers of law and order review in Hyderabad on the governor and several other issues that bifurcation of the state has thrown up.
He is understood to have urged Smriti Irani to take steps for sanction of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Hyderabad for which the state government would be too willing to provide land.
